Without the Second Amendment, the 9th and 10th Amendments Would be Meaningless

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.


For many people, these words are familiar as well as comforting.  However, for just as many people those words are a constant source of frustration and annoyance.  The reason is simple really.  There are millions of American firearm owners and there are all kinds of reasons that those millions of Americans own them:

*Hunting
*Target shooting
*Collecting
*Personal Protection

For the Founders there is no doubt that the foremost reason that they included this amendment in the Bill of Rights was to protect the freedom of the individual State and the people of that State.  The capital S was not a typo nor was it put there for artistic flare.  The States were to be independent.  The several States were united into a federal  republic.  A strong national government was the last thing the Founders wanted.  I know what I'm about to say will make a LOT of folks mad but so be it:  The Founders would never recite our Pledge of Allegiance.  One indivisible nation was not what they wanted.  The concept is nothing more than a perversion, regardless of what Glenn Beck says, but that's an issue for another day.  The Second Amendment as written was to ensure the People always be able to resist the federal government should it become a terror to the people, to become a tyranny.  You think I'm making this up?  Let's see what the Founders said shall we?

Notice how similarly worded these two amendments are.  In a nutshell what these amendments are supposed to do is arrest the federal government through the fourth check and balance in the Constitution.  "But there are three checks!  Executive, Judicial, and Legislative!", you may say.  You are wrong.  The fourth check and the one that has broken down, thus allowing us to reach this sorry state of affairs is the States themselves.  Remember, the States are all independent!  The federal government has NO jurisdiction over the internal affairs of a State, only over interstate affairs like commerce.  There is nothing in the Constitution about secession, abortion, drug control, wages, education, or the environment.  These are all State issues.  If just one governor would get elected and tell the powers that be in Washington, D.C. to jump off the proverbial bride a true revolution would start!  If that happens (and I hope it does happen soon for all our sakes) the tyrannical side of those "princes" in Washington will go ballistic.  And what do people who are in power fear the most?  Losing the power they have.  Without the Second Amendment there would be no firewall.  There would be no way to resist a tyrant should it become necessarily.  I pray it never does.  Thank God the Founders hoped for the best for us, while preparing us for that worse case scenario  Without the Second Amendment, none of the other .amendments would matter.  Difficult times are coming.  If you have a gun get more ammo.  If you don't have one, get one and learn to use it.  You can thank me later.
